This Mosque is one of the few religious artifacts in Ghana that attracts tourist to Larabanga, a town close to Damongo in the West Gonja District of the Savannah Region of Ghana. It is located not far from the Mole National Park. The unique feature of this mosque is that, it is quite different from those located in urban communities in West Africa. It is relatively small with West African adobe, wattle and daub as the main building material used for its construction. The structure is made up of two tall pyramid shaped towers. One of the towers designated for mihrab faces towards Mecca, forming the frontage on the East and the other as a Minaret at the Northeast corner. These are supported by twelve bulbous which are fitted with timber elements. All structures are white-washed. The mosque has an old Quran, believed by natives to have been received from heaven in 1650 by Bramah, the Imam at the time due to his prayers. This explains the reason why the mosque is possibly reserved as a local Mecca for religious activities. Another major attraction aside the Mosque is the Handicraft and Tourism Project, which generates funds for the regular maintenance of the mosque.
